British Tae Kwon-Do takes Dartmoor
First off, this post is well over due. The actual photographs were taken back on May 31st. Since then I’ve taken lots of photographs, and I now have a backlog of stuff to post about. Busy, busy, busy… although I must take time out to update my personal photography blog.
I had the pleasure of meeting these young athletes at the Martial Arts Show Live in Birmingham, UK. We discussed the possibility of working together and the rest is history. This photo shoot will be the first of many hopefully. So I took the long drive West and met up with them at their training centre. I was immediately struck by how talented they were. Seeing them “perform” at the Martial Arts Show is one thing, but actually seeing them train is a totally different story. I felt extremely privileged to have been invited to meet them during a training session. There aren’t many people who will have that honour, and I counted myself lucky.
If you are unaware of who they are, these girls are both black belts in Tae Kwon-Do. Lauren, the lighter haired sister is a second degree black belt and actually goes for her third degree in October. This will make her the youngest UK female to have ever achieved this. On the stage, these girls perform routines of high level martial arts with a touch of dance. When they are in sparring competitions (globally) they rule. Between them, they have won over 200 accolades, not losing a fight in over six years. These girls really are incredible.
You should check out their website… their bio pages say it all really.
